Happy Nowruz to all of those who celebrate🌷
We had a wonderful morning celebrating and learning about Nowruz, the Persian New Year, and celebration of spring. It begins on the first day of the Iranian calendar, usually on or around 20th March, or Spring Equinox 🌼
The children helped to set a Haft-Sis table and about the meaning of each of the items displayed on the table:
🌱Samanu (Sprout) is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. It represents the hope for plenty of good things in the coming year.
🍎 Sib (apple) It represents a wish for everyone to stay healthy in the new year.
🌰Senjed, (dried fruit) which represents love and being close to family and friends.
- Serkeh (vinegar) a symbol of being strong and staying hopeful even when times are difficult.
🧄 Sir (garlic), which is thought to keep bad luck away and protect us from harm.
🌅 Somāq (sunrise) showing that good things are coming and darkness will go away. It’s a sign of hope and looking forward to better times.
🪙 Sekkeh (coins) represents prosperity and wealth for the new year.
